The coastline, mountainous and steep, offers splendid views of the sea. It is sheltered and protected by a beautiful bay: the rock of Calpe in the North (Rock of Ifach) and the bay of Albir South.
Beaches, pebbly coves, creeks and cliffs stretching over six kilometers of coastline and offers various water sports such as surfing, fishing, sailing and diving.
In the lower part, you will find the shopping street of King James I, the fishing district but also the port, an important fishing.
The cuisine is rich and varied : there are mainly seafood and rice. A typical dishes is the "cruet of peix" (fish broth). Altea has numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
