Kvarner Bay is full of contrasts, different landscapes, history and traditions while having a modern way of life. Walking trails, fragrant gardens, century-old parks and high-quality health services are enough to relax and recharge your batteries!
The Kvarner Bay (Kvarner Gulf), north of the Adriatic Sea, has a privileged position. Protected by several mountains, there is always a mild climate and a very rich and diverse flora. This region extends between the Opatija Riviera to the west and Pag Island to the south. Rijeka and Opatija are the two main cities of Kvarner Bay.
The bay is full of small coastal towns that are worth seeing, most of which are highly developed in terms of tourism. The numerous islands, some of which are inhabited, also contribute to the particular charm of this region. Each of these islands is different and beautiful in its own way.
More details about Kvarner Bay Croatia
To see: Bakar, Crikvenica, Ika, Cres Island, Krk Island, Losinj Island, Rab Island, Novi Vinodolski, Opatija, Rijeka.
Losinj and Cres Islands:
With the exception of the cities of Cres and Mali Losinj the other cities on these islands are very small (mostly less than 100 inhabitants). Even though they existed in ancient times, the architecture and character of the cities are essentially Venetian. Creset Veli Losinj are very pretty ports and Mali Losinj, in a natural bay, is large enough to take ships there.
RAB Island:
The island is very different from any other island in Croatia. This paints a rather austere but ultimately mysteriously attractive painting, especially in the evenings when the sun's rays paint the surface of the rocks in pink. Curiously, the other side of the island, its western side, could not be more fertile: vineyards, olives, almonds and lemons grow there as everywhere on the Croatian coast. The capital of the island is Rab, a beautiful medieval town with a large number of church towers.
KRK Island:
The island of Krk is the largest island on the Adriatic and the most visited island of Kvarner, mainly because of its accessibility to land by a bridge. The bridge is north of the island, and joins the lands south of Kraljevica. The southern side of the island is the most touristy. The cities of Krk and Baska are the most popular destinations.
