Thanks to the many white villas and low-rise in the center of Carvoeiro, this former fishing village has managed to retain much of its charm. The center of the village was built around the small beach, which even today one can see the boats being launched (although today it's more for tourism).
Around Carvoeiro are several small beaches, hidden between the cliffs that rush into the sea. Most of these beaches are easily accessible (by stairs in the rocks that lead down to the sand) and have parking . (eg. Marinha, Benagil, Carvalho, Caneiros ...).

For athletes, Carvoeiro has a pretty varied range. Just a few kilometers from the center, you will find 3 golf courses (Pinta, Gramacho and Vale do Milho), and there are more than 20 'golf couses' on all the Algarve. There are also several tennis clubs, you can try your hand at diving, horseback riding, ... With the opening of the new 'Marina Portimão' (a few minutes by car), you will also find a wide offer water sports.
The rocky coast east of Carvoeiro opens the possibility of an exceptional promenade with wonderful views over the sea to Morocco.
At night, if you stay in Carvoeiro, you can sample the local cuisine or just good food from home, in one of the many restaurants on the main streets of the village. The presence of many foreign residents in Carvoeiro guarantee a wide selection and good quality in most restaurants.
